HOUSEKEEPING –

Guests and kids in the gym

We love your kids, and your friends are great. We think it’s awesome that they are encouraged to workout at PrimeTime Fitness! However, please keep in mind our policies on young adults and guests in the gym.

ANYONE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Remember, PrimeTime is not always staffed, and when staff members are in the gym they are probably working with clients – and unable to keep an eye on your kids. So please don’t think that just because there is an adult in the gym, it’s OK to send your kid over or drop him/her off to workout alone. Even worse – there isn’t an adult around and something happens. Don’t put your kids in that situation!

ALL GUESTS MUST SIGN-IN ON THE CLIPBOARD AT THE FRONT COUNTER

Our policies on guests:

·     All guests must be accompanied by a member, or there must be a staff member in the building.

·     Guests must sign in on the clipboard.

·     A staff member (or you, if no staff are around) must initial on their sign-in.

·     There is a $10 daily guest fee. Cash or check may be left in the IOU jar, or (for those who have a “piggy”) an IOU slip may be completed and the $10 will be deducted from your account.

STAFF RECIPE FILES –

Autumn Salad Bowl w/ Honey Ginger Dressing

from Karien’s kitchen

Serves 4

Salad Ingredients:

·     2 cups cooked quinoa (try organic tri-colored)

·     6 cups organic baby spinach

·     1/4 cup raw pecans

·     1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

·     1 ripe avocado, sliced

·     1.5 crisp red apples, sliced

·     1/4 cup dried apricots

Honey Ginger Dressing:

·     juice from two fresh lemons

·     2 Tbsps raw honey

·     1 Tbsp minced fresh ginger

·     2 tsp minced fresh garlic

·     4 Tbsps extra virgin olive oil, or avocado oil

·     sea salt and pepper to your taste

Instructions:

1.  In a large bowl combine spinach, quinoa, apple, dried apricots and then gently add the avocado.

2.  To make the dressing: In a small bowl whisk together all dressing ingredients very well.

3.  Drizzle dressing on the salad before serving and gently toss to combine.

4.  Top with pecans and crumbled feta cheese.

WOMEN NEED WEIGHTS TOO!

Again and again, research has shown that women who maintain a regular, moderate strength training program benefit from a long list of health advantages. Some still fear that weight training might bulk them up in unfeminine ways; however, as women of all ages realize the benefits of resistance training, negative attitudes about women in the weight training room are rapidly fading, according to renowned strength training researcher William J. Kraemer, PhD, of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
